Edwige – French Immersion by the ocean in Brittany!

I spent a week in April with "Your Life in French," and it was truly a great experience. The teacher, Edwige, is super experienced and has this great and natural way of tailoring the course to your level and what you personally need to work on. I was really impressed by how much progress I managed to make in just one week!

What I appreciated very much is that it wasn't just sitting in a classroom all the time. We went on some fun little excursions that made the lessons feel way more alive, linked to reality, and kept things interesting. If you're looking for a French course that's effective but also feels like a real experience, you should definitely book with Edwige.

Incredible!!!!! incroyable!!!! I have taken many French classes and done some one on on tutoring previously - and I can say hands down - Edwidge is the absolute most effective, most fun, most wonderful teacher I have had (by far :>). I already had a certain level of French but was stagnated to proceed further while not using it in a daily life. So I needed a kick start for the new phase of my learning.
When I was searching a private teacher I had several interests, but there must have been some instinct in me to decide upon Edwige, et la voilà c’était juste!

She finds your level, problems and your character to make a right approach. She magically makes difficult-to-grasp ideas simple and gave me simple yet concrete methods to take with me so that I can continue by myself.

One week seemed short, but it was totally fulfilling and I’m happily motivated.

Edwige is not only an excellent French teacher - deeply knowledgeable, patient, encouraging - she is, more importantly, a lovely human being with a keen sense of humor. I leaned a great deal in my few days with her, and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. I look forward to returning when the opportunity arises.

My 1-week class was a wonderful and rewarding experience. The is my third school for immersion language learning. This has been my best and most productive experience. Edwige was flexible with the lesson plan and I appreciated that she invested time to converse and assess my abilities. She created a set of lessons to focus on areas that needed improvement; this plan was definitely customized to my needs. She conveyed grammar rules in a simple and easy to understand manner. And she made a point to not dwell on grammar unless it was important to recall or learn a specific rule. I enjoyed that our classes were conducted with varied teaching methods, including games & videos. And as a bonus, some of our classes occurred while exploring Douarnenez and the beautiful Finistere. Edwige offered me detailed notes after each class. These notes now serve as the basis for me to further study on my own. Edwige gave me a sense of confidence about my speaking ability which has me now looking for day-to-day conversations as I continue my travels in France.

Edwige, my teacher for the week - who I hadn't met before, made me feel at ease straightaway.
She speaks english well hence is able to explain french grammar so that you understand it, which is indeed helpful. Edwige, is an experienced french language teacher who quickly assess your ability and plans your lessons accordingly.
I have no hesitation in recommending her ability as a teacher for anyone who is looking to improve speaking and understanding of the french language.

I had a wonderful week with Edwige (my second time). Despite not having had a conversation in French for the past year, our 3 hours each day passed quickly with lots of discussion and laughter. I feel much more confident speaking (my goal) and have some additional techniques that will be very helpful in the future. I’m quite amazed at what we achieved together, as I thought I’d be struggling to compose what I wanted to say. It’s a great tribute to Edwige that she creates a relaxed context, quickly assesses strengths and areas of need, documents new learning from each session and enables practice and repetition to establish everyday French. I’m sure I’ll be back as this is such a great immersion experience in a beautiful part of the world. Merci Edwige pour ces bons moments!

Edwige is simply the best! My friend Janis and I met taking online french classes during covid and always dreamt of going to France for a week of private tutoring. We could never have imagined how lucky we were going to be. Edwige met every single expectation and more. She has an innate gift for teaching. She put us at ease the first day and her delightful personality shone through the whole week while simultaneously teaching us more than we thought possible.. At times we laughed so hard we were crying, we genuinely had fun. So much fun we dream again of going back. I cannot recommend Edwige more highly. Merci merci merci 🙂

Edwige doesn't simply teach French—she makes you experience it! Her approach is completely different from that of traditional language schools. She has an incredible ability to push you beyond your comfort zone, and before you know it, you find yourself talking about almost anything in French. She is highly knowledgeable, supportive, and a pleasure to learn with. I absolutely loved this experience and would strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to make real progress in French.

Edwige is a great teacher, recognizes the problems I have with my French learning and immediately helps me overcome them. This was our second time with Edwige, the first in Donzac near Bordeaux and now in a small Breton coastal town. My wife was not taking lessons with Edwige so it was important that there were many charming villages and coastal landscapes we could explore after I had finished my morning lessons. The accomodation was again excellent.

Finally, Edwige cares. She noticed that we were trying to do too much on our final day, planning to drive to Charles De Gaulle airport in one day. She recommended we leave our rental car in Quimper, take the TGV train to CDG airport with one connection, helped make these changes and provided the necessary transport to make this happen. We are very grateful that Edwige made this extra effort to ensure our safe, relaxing return to the airport.

I cannot recommend my experience with Edwige highly enough!
